Values explained

Values are the foundational measures upon which an individual or organisation works to achieve it's goals.

In the context of the church, they spell out how we want to do things; what
qualities are important to us. They are the roots system of the church.
In common with many mission centric churches we recognise that changing our
structures, programmes or policies have little impact if our core values are
not similarly mission centric.

After prayer, discussion and consultation we crystalised our value statements
into six simple aspirations.

What matters to us is that we are a body of people in which:

  • Jesus is at the centre
  • Every member in in ministry
  • Every member is maturing in Word and Spirit
  • We are an authentic Christian community
  • We multiply through mission
  • We demonstrate the sacrificial love of Christ

These are further simplified to help us remember them!

1. How we do Small Groups

Small groups are an integral part of our church life.

Ranging somewhere between 6 and 12 members, groups usually meet weekly for mutual encouragement, worship, application based Bible study and evangelistic prayer.

Although the small group cells meet weekly, the key to their life is not the meeting but the community that the meeting facilitates.

We encourage everyone to belong to a small group cell as this has proven to be a wonderful way of helping each other to learn what it means to live for Jesus.

2. How to join a small group

Joining a small group is relatively easy though many of our groups have grown to capacity and this might mean a little wait on your behalf.

There are 3 routes into a cell group:

  • Contact the office on admin@arnoldarmy.org and let us know that you are interested and one of the pastoral staff will be in touch
  • If you have friends at church who already belong to a cell, ask them to talk to their cell leader about the possibility of you joining that group when a space comes free or the group multiplies
  • Sign up for an Alpha course by emailing alpha@arnoldarmy.org and then move into a cell group beyond the course

Have a read through the other articles on this page for more information about small group cells.
