Welcome! arnoldarmy is a group of people from all backgrounds and generations who love to meet together to worship God, proclaim His purpose for the world and serve other people. You can read much more about what we believe here. We meet together every Sunday (the Church gathered) so that we can be better equipped for living our the truths of Christianity in our everyday lives (the Church dispersed). We also gather midweek in a network of small groups of between 8 and 12 like minded people as well as a whole range of activities which build us up and help us reach out in the service of others. We would be really pleased to welcome to you any activity but most people find that coming along to the Sunday service or a small group feels like the natural place to begin. For directions click here.
What can you expect if you come on a Sunday? If you come by car you will find plenty of parking spaces in the public car park immediately across the road from our church building. Parking on a Sunday is free. We have a morning service at 10am every week but check here for the special evening services we hold from time to time. As you approach the church you will be welcomed by one of our welcome team who will be happy to answer any questions you have. If you would like someone to sit with you just ask. If you would rather just "blend in" that's no problem either. You may be handed a bible and the monthly news sheet and all of the words used in the service are projected on a large screen. The service itself usually lasts about 90 minutes and will include musical worship, prayer, reflection and teaching from the Bible on a topical theme. The teaching starts by explaining the bible story or passage and almost always ends with personal reflection about how to put it into action. There may be time during which people are invited to come forward if they would like to pray with someone in response to the service. An important thing to remember is that you can participate as much or as little as you like though we recommend you jump straight in and make the most of your visit. Worship music at arnoldarmy covers a range of styles and genres but the focus is definitely contemporary. Because our heritage is Salvation Army some of our congregation, including the leaders wear uniform but this is not at required - just come as you are. After the service tea and coffee are provided and this gives an opportunity to chat with other people.
What is provided for children? We provide activities for all ages of children from babies through to year 7 children. Usually the children stay in the service with their parents for the first 30 minutes (don't worry about your children making any noise - we expect that and they wont get told off!!). After the first 30 minutes they can go to age appropriate groups in different parts of the church building. Parents are most welcome to look over the facilities before the service starts or to go with their children to check things out especially on the first few visits. Our child protection policy requires a parent to stay with preschool children at all times. All of our children's workers are CRB checked, trained and monitored in their role of looking after your children. No adults are permitted in the children's areas before during or after the service except to accompany their own children.
What do I do if I want to join a small group? If you would like to join a small group please ask one of the welcome team to put you in touch with one of the church's Leadership Team who will take your contact details and arrange for someone to be in touch with you during the following week to work out which small group might be available and suitable.
I still have more questions? Please feel free to browse around the website. If you still have unanswered questions please contact us by clicking here for details. We look forward to welcoming you soon. |
